Dr. Sharon Zito

Sharon Zito, DVM

Dr. Sharon Zito has practiced for more than 25 years. She received a Bachelor of Science at MIT in Life Sciences, and received a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis Veterinary School.

In addition to completing a small animal internship in medicine and surgery at West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group, she has worked at all the major veterinary emergency hospitals in the San Diego area. She continues her ongoing education to maintain high standard of care for your pets.

Dr. Zito currently volunteers as Veterinary Liaison  of Feral Cat Coalition, and has been actively involved in other Spay/Neuter programs including SPAY MEXICO, ARRF (Animal Rescue Resource Foundation), Angel Dogs Foundation, and ECAR (East County Animal Rescue).  She is a member of the AVMA, CVMA, and IVECCS (International Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Society).

She has three dogs, three cats, and a bird — adopting all of them from rescue groups. She enjoys snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, hiking, traveling, and fine-tuning her skills as a private pilot.

Elizabeth Mendoza, Receptionist

Elizabeth is one of our  two receptionists. She has been working in the veterinary field for 11 years. She rescued a dog that was about to get hit by a car, named him Blacky, and brought him to her home 11 years ago. She loves the ranch life, enjoys baking, and spending her free time with her husband.


Cayla Burchnell, Receptionist

Cayla is our star receptionist! She has been working with animals for 9+ years and in her spare time shows her personal dogs, and rides her horses. She frequents dog beach with her husband and pack of 6 dogs and spends time out with her horses on Bonita trails.


Julie Burgess

Julie joined our team in January 2016. She has been a veterinary technician for over 14 years. She treats every patient as if they were her own pet. She loves organizing the clinic and creating a warm pleasant environment. She also has a 1 year old baby girl.

Aundrea Hirschmiller

Aundrea joined our staff the summer of 2017. She has been working with several animal rescues her whole life, and has a very strong passion for animals and rescuing them. She will be graduating from high school this year, and will be attending Grossmont community college next fall.  As an extra curricular activity, Aundrea plays soccer, and she also loves to garden fruits, vegetables, and flowers in her free time. She’s adopted an American Pit Bull/Bulldog named Briggs who she loves dearly and considers her son.
